Cirque du Soleil is coming to Colombia
The world famous circus has announced that they will be touring through South America with their new show, SEP7IMO DÍA, starting on March 9, 2017 in Buenos Aires. The show will also come to Bogotá although the date has not yet been announced.
For this new spectacle, which was two years in the making, Cirque Du Soleil has teamed up with rock supergroup Soda Stereo.
Artists from 14 countries will flip, tumble, jump and juggle alongside the sounds of old favourites as well as new and previously unreleased material from Soda Stereo.
Instagram clones Snapchat
Instagram, a subsidiary of Facebook, announced that it would be adding a new feature called Instagram Stories. The new feature allows users to upload pictures of their day onto their accounts where they will appear as slideshows that other users can access. The stories will be deleted after 24 hrs.
Commentators pointed out that the feature copies the concept of rival, Snapchat, and when challenged, Instagram CEO Kevin Systrom agreed. He told a tech website, “This isn’t about who invented something. This is about a format, and how you take it to a network and put your own spin on it.”
Users will now be able to entertain us all with pictures of their breakfast avocados lightly roasted in swan’s tears accompanied by a soy milk rainbow-equality fair trade cappuccino. Instagram wrote on their blog: ‘With Instagram Stories, you don’t have to worry about overposting. Instead, you can share as much as you want throughout the day’.
Yuliana can sing
Or so at least thought the voters for the Mexican version of The Voice as Yuliana Martinez, of team Balvin, took first place in the competition on July 31. J Balvin was, shockingly, very excited about this and tweeted, “Dreams do come true”.
Performing her songs ‘Creo en mí’ and ‘Mi reflejo’, Martinez won the fifth season of the popular TV programme. Her win was greeted with waves of enthusiasm which will likely continue rolling in until the next season of The Voice grabs people’s attentions once again.
Son Palenque are back
The gurus and pioneers of the palenquero sound, which combines afro beats and Colombian rhythms to create a unique tropical fusion are working on a new album after a two-year hiatus. Son Palenque were formed in the 80s by front man Justo Valdez, a native of San Basilio de Palenque, a village in northern Colombia. The new album will feature a collection of some of their best works as well as some new material. The release date has not been announced yet.
Bomba Estéreo Tour
The Colombian sensations, alongside their most famous and at times ubiquitous songs ‘Fuego’ and ‘Fiesta’, will take their unique electro-cumbia sounds on tour. Primarily touring through the US and Mexico, they will also be attending the Oktoberfest in Medellín on September 3, where they might shock any audience members expecting traditional Bavarian music.
Ariadna ‘wrong title’ Gutiérrez
The Colombian beauty queen, who gained international fame when she was wrongly crowned the winner at the 2015 Miss Universe pageant, opened the swimwear walk for Agua Bendita on the last day of Colombia Moda. Ariadna came onstage wearing a two piece swimsuit that everyone agreed was stunning.
Colombia Moda, the largest fashion show in South America, featured Colombia’s hottest designers presenting their glad rags from July 25 to 28.
