As the city gears up for TEDxBogotá 2019, we take a look at what to expect from this year’s conference.

#Resiliencia is the focus of TEDxBogotá 2019. The event, taking place on March 15 in the Movistar Arena, aims to promote and develop collective conscience in Colombia.

In front of an audience of over 10,000 – not to mention those livestreaming the talks from their homes – 12 speakers will take to the stage to give their take on this year’s theme, each in under 18 minutes.

TED was founded in 1984 and is now a globally renowned non-profit organisation, uniting our planet’entrepreneurs and thinkers to share big ideas which have the potential to change the world and how we interact with it. Speakers and topics are carefully selected, and the brevity of the talks ensures that they deliver a clear and concise as well as relevant message. TEDx conferences, a branch of the overall scheme, are independently organised by local teams, with global backing and adherence to universal TED guidelines.

Organised by the Fundación Social Colectivo, the first TEDxBogotá event took place in 2010, giving a platform to Colombians generating local and global change with their initiatives. Now, nine years later, the objective behind this year’s talks is to explore how the country can develop its capacity to move forward, “taking advantage of its cultural richness, biodiversity and entrepreneurial spirit” as it emerges out of 80 years of conflict.

The 12 speakers will define what resilience means to them, both in terms of national and transnational topics such as the environment and the challenges that future generations will face, to more personal experiences of overcoming adversity.

TEDxBogotá will take place on March 15 2019 in the Movistar arena. To find out more or apply for tickets, visit their website.
